I’m a firm believer that Halloween is pretty much the worst holiday ever. The only holiday that is worse has to be either Memorial Day or President’s Day. I take that back Valentine’s Day is hands down the worst holiday ever. Why do people need to have a day to prove that you love someone? Love isn’t something that should be celebrated one day a year with pomp and circumstance, it should be that way everyday. Anyway, at least it’s one holiday closer to … wait, I really don’t think there are any good holidays out there anymore. Maybe I’m slowly turning into the grinch.
Whoa, that was a bit of a tangent. On another tangent … ever since I’ve started things back up with TiVo I’ve been watching an ungodly amount of Food Network, SciFi, Discovery, History, and Discovery Science. I had been falling behind on my useless knowledge upkeep so I’m just trying to catch up. It’s amazing when this stuff comes in handy (saves boring conversations AND impresses people, or annoys them, same thing).
My big thing lately has been to try and make some new friends and I’m failing at it miserably. I’m wise beyond my years in certain areas but when it comes to social interaction skills I think I’m just socially retarded (is that term politically correct?). Plus the fact that it’s winter and everyone is starting to hibernate for the season sure doesn’t help things any.
Speaking of cold weather … I think that it’s really going to suck this winter. It’s only been a toasty 45 degrees or so in the morning and I have already been dreading the walk to the train each day. I have no idea how I’m going to handle this when it’s 2 degrees in the morning.
I’ve been feeling creative lately. I think I’m going to have to find a new creative project to work on. It’s driving me crazy.
Enough for now. I’ve got to go watch Samantha Who? before I can get to bed (Does it get any better than Christina Applegate? I think not.).
nerd extravaganza
Fresh off the break-up, I’ve decided to go all out and nerd it up this weekend to cheer myself up a bit. I’ve got a list of nerdy things to do a mile long that includes:
- Install my new copy of OS X 10.5 – Leopard, which arrives this morning
- Write my two JAVA programs for class that I haven’t finished/started yet
- Reorganize and clean-up my server directory and do some website development
- Catch up on all my missed tv shows that I skipped this past week (oh TiVo how i missed you)
- Make a few iPhone ringtones
To round it all out and try to balance out the nerdiness though, I’m going to see the Bears play on Sunday thanks to the client who so graciously gave us their season tickets for this week’s game. I don’t think I’ve ever been to an NFL game so this should be an interesting experience.
Beyond that I suppose I won’t have too much else going on. I need to work on making the apartment a bit more habitable. I guess I got so used to not staying at my actual place that I just didn’t bother with things there. Now that everything’s changed I suppose I should invest some time in tidying up things and unpacking from when I moved in 5 months ago. Although, if I’m not sure if I want to stay in my current place (it’s sort of dark and depressing) and could possibly be moving to a new place in 7 months again, does it make sense to bother really settling in? That’s what I need to figure out.
That’s all I’ve got for now. Need to get to work.
how could i forget?
i totally forgot to share how intelligent i am (when i say this out loud it doesn’t sound as conceded as this probably does if you read it without hearing it in the way i speak) … i got a 96 on my Java programming mid-term. average class score was something like an 83.6 and median score was 86. yeah, i’m kinda proud of myself. *end self praising*
Where are my left socks?
I dunno if you can tell by the picture but all I can find are my right socks. Where the hell are the left ones? I will be sure to keep everyone updated as the situation progresses. I’m wearing two right socks today and I feel terribly out of place.
